About the Bible Reading Club for 2012…

Hello all,

First of all apologies for not finishing up with the Bible Reading Club for 2011.  I had a series of unexpected life changes—nothing too traumatic, not to worry—towards the end of the year that made it first difficult, then impossible to keep up with the writings from then on.  As 2011 drew to a close I contemplated and prayed over what to do with the club for 2012.  I came to the conclusion that the best course of action would be to re-start fresh in January and take you through the entire bible this year with daily writings.

The pace will be slower than the reading schedule for 2011 (which should give everyone an increased chance of successfully completing the Bible readings in one year, and hopefully aid you in making this a lifelong habit), and I have an archive of over 200 devotionals already written which will make it easier to ensure I am able to keep up with a daily publishing schedule (with a balance of about 150 devotionals left to write, that works out to approximately 3 per week versus the 7 per week I was writing last year—much easier to manage!)

My plan of action for 2012 is as follows:

  • Each Saturday the readings for the upcoming week (Sunday through Saturday) will be issued, as they are below in this post.
  • The daily readings will be accompanied by a short devotion as in the past.
  • I will be re-posting devotions written over the past two years as well as writing new material.  From January through September, approximately 3 daily devotionals each week will be brand new, while the balance will be previously published.  From September through December 5 to 6 daily devotionals will be brand new.
  • Devotionals will be posted each morning at 4:00 am so you can incorporate them into your daily bible reading routine at whatever time you have set aside throughout the day.  I hope this will be an improvement over last year’s somewhat erratic publishing schedule.

As always you are welcome to continue receiving these posts, via e-mail, from the website, on facebook or twitter, and to share them with anyone who you think may be blessed by them.  And obviously you are free to stop receiving these posts at any time as well.

Lastly I would like to say that reading the Bible in 1 year is one of the most powerful things you can accomplish.  The Bible is much more than a book, it is God revealing Himself to the people eager to seek Him.  It is instructive and transformative, insightful and comforting, challenging and powerful.  It will draw you closer to God by letting you hear who He is in His own words.  It will allow Him to reveal to you who He made you to be and what He has in store for you.  It is a journey you won’t regret.

Happy reading for 2012!  Please keep me in prayer and I will be praying for you as well.  Be blessed!

  2. Hey Ricardo,
I think I’d like to go on this spiritual journey. I’m not good with disciplined reading, however, the thought of reading with a ‘group’ where one can comment on interesting points is intriguing to me. Ryan has already read the Bible through twice in about 2 years. He’s just like that; good at studying and reading on his own. I look forward to your posts and will be praying for you!
