Schedule – Readings for the week of January 29 (Exodus 35 – Leviticus 10)

This week we wrap up Exodus and begin Leviticus.  When I first read the Bible in its entirety, Leviticus was one of the most challenging books to get through.  It’s very heavy on laws and rules, many of which may not seem to make much sense to us today.  It’s since become one of my favorites.

As you read, try to see the underlying principles to the instructions God is giving Israel.  Remember they just came out of bondage to a foreign land which followed a pagan polytheistic religion with strong occult practices.  What bad habits and sinful attitudes was God trying to free Israel from through these laws?

You may find it helpful to use a study bible, or a resource with a Strong’s concordance so you can see the original language this book was written in (Hebrew).  You can find such a resource on-line at www.blueletterbible.com.  Here are this week’s readings:

Exodus 35-37*
