Today’s Reading: 2 Samuel 21-22
Today’s Reflection: 2 Samuel 22:40
For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.
When God had finally delivered King David from all of his enemies he sang a song to the Lord (2 Samuel 22:1). One of the things David praised God for was for giving him strength for the battle and leading him to overcome the obstacles facing him.
We all face challenges in life. Whether from enemies, by circumstances beyond our control, or just by chance, things come against us that seem to great to surmount. We may feel there is no way to endure the situation we’re facing. We may even think God has left us. But from what David is saying here we have no reason to fear. For when obstacles rise against us, God promises to equip us with strength. We may not feel strong before the trial, but God invites us to receive Him as our deliverer, refuge, shield, stronghold and salvation (2 Samuel 22:2-3). If we faithfully trust in the Lord the strength to endure all of our battles will come.
Exodus 18:23 – “If you do this, God will direct you, you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.”
